In people with a biopsychosocial vulnerability to developing acute and post-traumatic stress disorder, high sym- pathetic activity occurs. A non-invasive measure to assess sympathetic tone is nasal temperature. Recent studies suggest that in people with post-traumatic stress a stressor induces a prolonged nasal thermal drop, while non-harmful thermal stimulation can improve mood.
The present study proposes an affective thermoregulation process: the nasal thermal decrease during an acute social stress task and the nasal thermal increase during relaxation in university students exposed to the S earthquake while holding a non-harmful thermal stimulus in their hands. A quasi-experimental repeated measures design was used to evaluate affective thermoregulation in 21 students, 20 days after S.
The level of anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, alexithymia, social support, and perception of stress was also evaluated. The stress level revealed a direct relationship between the anxiety, depression, and alexithymia score, and an inverse relationship with social support.
Thermoregulation can be considered as a biomarker of emotional regulation capacity. Cuestionario de Apoyo Social de Amigos y Fami- liar. Es un cuestionario va de 14 — 70 pts. La figura 1 muestra el esquema del protocolo.

Torpor in this species as well as in marsupials in general, appears to be a flexible and an opportunistic response to unpredictable environmental conditions.

To test for a shallow or for a deep torpor response, continuous Termorregulscion 2 records were conducted in different individuals with food as well as, deprived of food the most usual way to induce torpor, Lyman et al. Mild hypohydration induced by exercise in the heat attenuates autonomic thermoregulatory responses to the heat, but not thermal pleasantness in humans. Send the link below via email or IM. Brain Research Reviews, 57 1 Neither you, nor the coeditors you shared it with will be able to recover it again. Indeed low mass-independent C m values high thermal insulation coupled to high mass-independent BMR values may contribute to a higher thermoregulatory capacity by allowing heat conservation.
Luis Ebensperger Received December 2, ; accepted 1, In addition to the conceptual relevance of determining the underlying causes of observed differences in performance in a wild endothermic species, the scarcity of knowledge regarding the comparative physiology of South American marsupials will make this effort a valuable one.
